Lovely Uni! Sea Urchin, the crazy black spiked ball looking thing that most people are scared of. Uni is actually sea urchin roe (the eggs of a sea urchin) most hardcore sushi fans can’t go out to sushi without trying this. You should be warned though, don’t order this in any run of the mill place, If you go to a so so budget sushi place and get uni, it will probably not be edible unless you get really lucky. This is Uni 2 ways, the first piece is seared and second is just wrapped in seaweed over some rice. The seared piece was great, it almost melted on to the rice and had a great taste and texture. It’s a very rich, deep ocean flavor. The second piece was freezing cold which made it really unpleasant. First piece 8/10 second 4/10
